National Senior Citizen Day was created in 1988 by President Ronald Reagan as a day to support, honor and show appreciation to all seniors and to recognize their life achievements. Each year, we, the Senior Citizen Council of Cobb County, recognizes it by awarding older adults who have volunteered continuously over the years to better the live of their fellow seniors in the county. The Cobb County Board of Commissions presented this year's Senior Citizen Lifetime achievement Proclamations. The Council wants to thank the Cobb County Board of Commissioners, Chairwoman Lisa Cupid, Commissioner Keli Gambrill, District 1, Commissioner Jerica Richardson, District 2 Commissioner JoAnn K. Birrell, District 3, Commissioner Monique Sheffield, District 4, The Cobb County Communications Department and the The Board of Commissioners and the staff of Cobb County Senior Services for their support of this event. If you know of an outstanding senior who is always volunteering in the community, please contact us so they can be considered for recognition on a National Senior Day.
